The Animal Farm Short Course is a tool for students of all ages to engage one of the great literary "fables" of all time. Through satire and thinly-veiled allegory George Orwell helps readers ask big questions about politics, economics, power, and language. The course, including the introduction, the reading, the classroom lecture, and the final discussion, can be completed in less than a week, but for study groups or family engagement, it can be easily adapted to a longer time table. (The course can be used for individual or group study, family time, or a community worldview conversation).
Students participate in the course in four parts:
Watch a ten-minute video introduction to Animal Farm;
Read the book, using the Reading Guide provided;
Watch the classroom lecture on Animal Farm, pausing when desired to consider the questions or engage in group discussion or individual reflection; and
Engage in a final group discussion or individual consideration of the book and the classroom dialogue.
The Animal Farm Short Course is accessed through its own web portal, available only to registered students.
