The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Short Course
The Jekyll and Hyde Short Course is a tool for students of all ages to engage the big questions about what it means to be human. The course, including the introduction, the reading, the classroom lecture, and the final discussion, can be completed in less than a week, but for study groups or family engagement, it can be easily adapted to a longer time table. (The course can be used for individual or group study, family time, or a community worldview conversation).
Students participate in the course in four parts:
Watch a ten-minute video introduction to Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, providing an overview of major themes;
Read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, using the reading guide provided;
Watch the classroom lecture on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, pausing when desired to consider the questions or engage in group discussion or individual reflection; and
Engage in a final group discussion or individual consideration of the book and the classroom dialogue.
The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Short Course is accessed through its own web portal, available only to registered students.
